Meet the team
A dedicated and trained team of volunteers
The Heroes Academy team is a dedicated and trained team of volunteers who are passionate about inclusion and have a heart for these families in our community.
Through the network of the church and other community organisations, dozens of professionals including doctors, nurses, allied health workers, teachers, support workers and others, volunteer their time to Heroes Academy. Our network of volunteers enables us to provide 1:1 care ratio for all children who attend Heroes Academy events.
Safety is of utmost importance and as such all our volunteers have been referenced checked, hold a current Working with Children’s Check, and have completed Child Safe Training.
Chrissy Lee
Heroes Academy Founder
Prior to becoming a pastor and a parent, Chrissy completed her Bachelor of Science (Human Communication Science) and worked as a Speech Pathologist in the disability sector. Having her own child with additional needs as well as professional experience, gives her unique and comprehensive insights into the experiences of our Heroes and their families. This experience has developed into a passionate pursuit of inclusion.
Ebony Randall
Heroes Academy Coordinator
Ebony was a Chaplain for children with developmental language disorders before going on staff at Heroes Academy. She has a Diploma in Community services, obtained Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and furthered her studies in Community Mental Health. Ebony has three children who all have diagnosed additional needs. Her husband Peter also has Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy. Ebony’s lived experience and her passion for inclusion makes her uniquely positioned to care and advocate for children and families with additional needs. Ebony believes that ALL children regardless of diagnosis should be celebrated, included, and valued.
