What is your building like?
Heroes Academy Days utilise the main auditorium, foyer and children’s area of the Nations Church building. They are large spaces with lots of room to run, play and carry out various activities. For the purposes of the Heroes Academy day, the auditorium is cleared of chairs and the environment is set with safety and fun in mind.
What happens on a Heroes Academy Day?
Activities are programmed throughout the day in half-hour blocks. Children are always given choice within activities and can always ‘opt out.’ A range of sensory requirements has been considered within all activity programming, ensuring that a wide range of sensory sensitivities/needs are catered for. Below is a sample of some of the activities available on the day.
• Silent Disco
• Sensory Play including Sensory Swings, light tables and more.
• Bouncy castle
• Just Dance
• All abilities obstacle course
What is the care ratio?
Given our network of volunteers, we can provide 1:1 care for all the children who attend Heroes Academy. Your child’s volunteer will have access to the information you provide on your child’s application form. The high ratio of carers enables us to accommodate the specific physical, sensory, and emotional needs of your child within the framework of the day. All our volunteers have current Working With Children Checks.
